Introduction of job offers

Here is information about the person who received the job offer.

We cannot disclose all of it to protect his/her personal information, but let’s take a look at trends and countermeasures.

Name: Mr. A

Age: Late 20s

Occupation: IT engineer

Years of experience: 4 to 6 years

Japanese level: Passed N2

Mr. A’s Japanese level is high and he has passed the JLPT N2.

I think a Japanese level of JLPT N2 or higher is essential to convey your past work history and how you will contribute to the company. Of course, if you have a high conversational ability, there have been cases where even N5 has been hired.

Trends and countermeasures based on the success of the job offer

We will provide you with detailed information about the candidate’s personality, skills and experience, as well as his/her Japanese language level and other abilities to be hired.

① About age

Mr. A, who received the job offer, is in his late 20s. He has been working for more than three years after graduating from university.

The younger he is, the higher the job offer rate.

What is the age of the target audience that the company is looking for?

The age range the company is looking for is from early 20s to 35 years old.

Of course, those over 35 can also apply, but they should have nearly 10 years of work experience and have experience not only as a member but also as a team leader or manager.

In Japan, it is said that it is very difficult for applicants whose age is over 35, and the job offer rate declines significantly after the age of 35. However, if you have high market value with high skills and a wealth of management experience, your chances of being hired will increase regardless of age.

Therefore, it would be better to apply as soon as possible.

② Skills / years of experience

Mr. A has between 4 and 6 years of experience. He has experience not only as a member but also as a team leader and other management roles.

Although his experience is not long, he is skilled and has experience in development using trendy programming languages.

He is a hard worker who is learning the latest technologies and programming languages and is constantly updating his knowledge.

Skills are important, not years of experience.

Who is the target that the company is looking for?

Applicants with one year of experience are also eligible to apply, but at least two years of experience will increase the offer rate.

The number of years of work experience is proportional to the level of Japanese language ability, and a higher level of Japanese is required if the number of years of experience is short.

If you have more than 5 years of experience, you may be hired even at the N3 level, since you do not need to learn skills and can work on your own immediately to some extent.

③ Japanese language level

Mr. A has passed N2. He is an efficient learner, having mastered Japanese by going to school and self-studying without using Japanese at all at work.

I believe that his ability to take action on his own, go to school, and continue to study on his own while maintaining his motivation were highly evaluated, and he received the job offer.

It does not mean that because you use Japanese at work, your Japanese language skills are at a business level. There are people who cannot speak Japanese well even if they use it for work, so the most important thing is to study by yourself, gain knowledge, and output a lot.

What is the target Japanese language proficiency required by the company?

All the job offers say that JLPT N2 is required, and in most cases, if you have passed N2, you will be able to pass the application screening and proceed to an interview.

However, some people are not hired even if they have passed N1, because the interview requires them to present their experience in a short time in an easy-to-understand manner.

In fact, the offer rate for those who pass N3 is the highest.

The reason is that we have the largest group of people who have passed N3. And it is because N3 grammar and Kanji can be used well in an interview.

To be sure, you should pass N2.

You can study Japanese that is not used on the JLPT or in interviews, and that you will never learn at school or in textbooks, but that Japanese people use every day.

④ Character / Personality

Mr. A is very cheerful and can smile and talk even when he is nervous.

Companies would not want to hire someone who is unfriendly. Since the project involves communicating with each other, people with good charm are preferred.

In addition to their Japanese level, the way you speak and communicate is also very important, as you should be polite and speak at a speed that is easy for others to understand.

Even if you pass N1, if your speaking speed is too fast and you cannot convey what you want to say, you will not be hired, so it is a good idea to take a video of your speaking style and check it or have a Japanese person watch it.

What is the personality of the target person that the company wants to hire?

Of course, they will hire people who speak clearly, smile, and have a bright, positive impression.

If you go to the interview with a smile on your face, you will be less nervous and will be able to explain well in Japanese.

When we are practicing for an interview, we can predict to some extent whether they will or will not be hired based on their smile and facial expression.

Please note that if your expression is dark and listless, you will be judged as unmotivated and will not be hired.

⑤ Willingness to Change Jobs / Actions

Basically, everyone is working and busy with their job search, but those who are hired respond quickly to the agents.

Sometimes, Mr. A sent emails back late due to work, but we received a reply on the same day. The average response time was 2 to 3 hours.

In Japan, it is said that if you are quick to respond, you will be recognized and you can get the job done.Quick action was one of the factors that got him hired.

We understand that he is too busy with work to reply. However, we encourage you to reply to e-mails by the next day at the latest, and to submit your work a couple of days earlier than the deadline.

This will also help us, the agents, to convey the speed of your response to the company, which will increase the rate of job offers.

What kind of people do companies want to hire?

The basic prerequisite is that you must be able to respond quickly and submit your work on time.

In Japan, there is a saying [act 10 minutes in advance]. Everything must be ready 10 minutes in advance, and you must be ready to start immediately.

For example, if you are meeting someone at 10:00 a.m., you should arrive at 9:50 a.m. and wait for the other person.

This kind of leeway is necessary.

What did we do to get the offer?

◆Interview Preparation

I taught them the technical terms used at work in Japanese so that the company would think that he could work smoothly in Japan if he used these words.

In addition, he not only organized his past experiences, but also created a story about what he worked on in this project and how he addressed the problems.

By telling the story, not only will they think that your Japanese level is high, but they will also be able to easily visualize what kind of work you did.

I also told them to speak with as cheerful an expression as possible.

This is because even though you are telling a good story, if the way you tell it and your facial expression is dark, the good story will not make a good impression.

I instructed him on how to communicate and the correct facial expressions to use during the interview.

◆Japanese Lesson

Since he had passed JLPT N2, he was trying to use difficult N2 level Japanese, so I instructed him to rephrase the words into simple words to communicate because even we Japanese do not use such words he used very often.

Since the Japanese lesson was given together with a Japanese language instructor, we corrected slightly different nuances, etc., and guided the student to speak more natural Japanese.
